Cooks act as matchmakers, supervising the flirtation of fickle ingredients. Macaroni and cheese degrade quickly after the addition of the cheese sauce, and as I myself continue to degrade daily towards death, I find it increasingly critical to consume the dish with haste, before the molten cheese dries and congeals horribly upon clammy noodles, like blood spattered on the skin of one struck down in feverish pursuit (Neoptolemus would be proud).
The apparent change in school between this year and the last diminishes. In the small retrospect that is mine, it seems that the actual knowledge and ability gained in school are entirely subordinate to work, which perhaps makes a morbidly practical sense.
I barely noticed when the leaves were at their peak of brilliance, an error excusable had I been doing anything else at all.
