I spent the last four hours with some people from my Information and Coding seminar, attempting to break a polyalphabetic cipher (keyword length 6). By the time we were able to read several phrases, only Haoming and I were left, the others having left for such luxuries as sleep. We didn't actually finish breaking the cipher, but we Googled a few phrases and found that the enciphered text was, amusingly enough, a review of a movie, Enigma, which the class had watched after hours a few weeks ago.
When you've got a good group, and a computer to eliminate the drudgery, breaking ciphers is actually exhilarating, especially as the work accelerates with each revelation. If this class were to take over the remainder of my life, I wouldn't be entirely resentful.
Stapleton's annual steak dinner for AP students was last night. It's odd to think that I'll never have one of Stapleton's classes again. "Hinc fore ductores ... pollicitus [est]" and the memory haunts me on occasion.

This hour's growing all too familiar, but tonight's reason could hardly be more worthwhile. Megan and Cassandra came over from Greensboro to spend the night with Morgan, and I somehow spent over 12 consecutive hours in their company. Caught up with Megan, found Morgan a most agreeable person upon actual conversation, hung about in various restaurants and arcades, and watched Secret Window, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, interspersed with rain-walks and hot chocolate. As a result of today's on-and-off downpours, I was soaked no less than three separate times, and my clothes are damp as I write this, having just walked back from Hinton James.
Dawn comes early, with rosy fingers... in about an hour, to be more precise. Bedtime.
Still behind on Crypto, naturally.

Spent several hours tonight catching up with Trevor while mooching around on Franklin Street, rather than catching up on my Crypto like I should've been, and it was absolutely worth it, even if tomorrow morning'll be hell.
